Joking Hazard is an offensive card game where you compete to finish awful comics. It’s a game that is equal parts creative storytelling and feeling bad about yourself. The damaged minds behind Cyanide & Happiness created it, so don’t let grandma play unless you want her to die of a broken heart.

Each box contains 360 cards, including 10 write-your-own words cards, allowing for millions of possible combinations and jokes. And the rules themselves are flexible and remix-able, with countless alternate ways to play.

How to Play

The Deck Plays First

The judging player (referred to as the judge) flips the top card off the draw pile.

The Judge Plays Second

That player then adds one of their own cards on either side, making the setup.

Everyone Else Plays Third

The other players then put in their best punchline, facedown. The judge shuffles and picks the funniest one.

A Uniquely Creative Game

Joking Hazard puts the creative control in the players’ hands. Each comic is a tiny little story you’re creating from scratch. That story can go in a direction as good or terrible as you are. With all the expansion packs, Joking Hazard has tens of millions of possible comic combinations.

SUPER, FUN, GOOD

Joking Hazard was inspired by the Cyanide & Happiness Random Comic Generator, a web app we created in 2014 that generates a three panel comic from hundreds of possible panels. We printed them out, balanced for gameplay, and Joking Hazard was born.

A lot of “impress the judge” games create all the jokes for you by combining two random cards. Joking Hazard is different, because there are THREE cards. That may not sound like a big difference, but it allows the judge to participate, by inventing a story that everyone else has to finish. Context is everything.
